Cancellation & Refund Terms
When You Cancel a Booking
If you need to cancel a booking, you can do so at any time through your account dashboard. Here's what happens when you cancel:
Refund Breakdown:
- You receive back: The full plot rental price (base price)
 - Non-refundable: The 15% service fee
 - Plot owner receives: Nothing (booking is cancelled)
 
Why We Keep the Service Fee
The 15% service fee covers essential platform costs including:
- Payment processing fees charged by our payment provider
 - Platform maintenance and security
 - Customer support and dispute resolution
 - Administrative costs of processing the refund
 
Example Refund Calculation
Original Booking:
- Plot rental price: £100.00
 - Service fee (15%): £15.00
 - Total paid: £115.00
 
After Cancellation:
- Refund to you: £100.00
 - Service fee retained: £15.00
 
How to Cancel Your Booking
- Log in to your Plot-Share UK account
 - Go to "Manage Bookings" from your dashboard
 - Find the booking you wish to cancel
 - Click the "Cancel Booking" button
 - Review the refund amount shown
 - Confirm the cancellation
 
Your refund will be processed automatically and returned to your original payment method.
Refund Processing Time
When will I receive my refund?
- Immediate processing: Refunds are initiated instantly upon cancellation
 - Bank processing time: Typically 5-10 business days for the funds to appear in your account
 - Debit/Credit cards: Refunds appear as credits on your card statement
 - Confirmation email: You'll receive an email confirming your refund has been processed
 
Plot Owners
What happens when a renter cancels?
- You receive no payment from the cancelled booking
 - The plot becomes available again for other renters to book
 - You are not charged any fees or penalties
 - You'll receive a notification about the cancellation
 
If funds were already transferred to your account, they will be automatically reversed as part of the refund process.
Exceptions & Special Circumstances
In certain situations, additional refund considerations may apply:
- Payment disputes: Handled through our Resolution Center
 - Technical errors: Full refunds including service fees may be issued
 - Fraudulent activity: Subject to investigation and appropriate action
 - Platform errors: We'll work with you to resolve fairly
