For Owners - Listing a Space

How do I list my space?

Once you've registered, just click the "List Your Space" button in the navigation menu. You'll be guided through a simple form where you can add details, photos, and your price.

Is it free to list a space?

Yes! It is 100% free to list your space on Plot Share UK. There are no sign-up fees or subscription costs for Owners.

What kind of spaces can I list?

You can list any unused space you own. This includes private gardens, allotments, driveways for parking (with or without EV charging), and garages or other outbuildings for storage.

For Renters - Booking a Space

How do I book a space?

Simply browse the listings, find a space that suits your needs, and click the "Book Now" or "Rent" button. You'll be taken to a secure checkout to complete your payment.

How do I communicate with an Owner?

Our secure, on-site messaging system allows you to communicate directly with Owners to ask any questions you might have before or after booking. To protect your privacy, we recommend always communicating through our platform.

Payments, Fees & Getting Paid

How do the fees work?

We have a simple and transparent fee structure. It's free for Owners to list a space. We add a 15% service fee for the Renter at checkout, and we deduct a 5% commission from the Owner's payout. This allows us to run the platform, handle secure payments, and provide support.

How do I get paid for my rentals? (Stripe Setup)

We use Stripe, a world-leading and highly secure payment processor, to handle all payouts. To receive your earnings, you just need to connect a Stripe account from your User Dashboard. When you click "Setup Payouts," you will be taken to a secure form on Stripe's website.

During this one-time setup, Stripe will ask for some information. Please use the following details:

Business Type: Select "Individual / Sole Trader"

Industry: Select "Travel and Lodging", and then the sub-category "Property Rentals"

Business Website: Enter our main site address: https://www.plotshareuk.co.uk

Space Owner Support - Tax & Earnings

Do I need to pay tax on my rental income?

Income from renting your plot is classified as property income and may be subject to UK Income Tax. However, the government offers a £1,000 tax-free Property Income Allowance per tax year (April 6th to April 5th).

If you earn under £1,000, you generally don't need to declare this to HMRC. If you earn over £1,000, you'll need to report it via Self Assessment.

Will Plot-Share UK report my earnings to HMRC?

Yes, due to new UK digital platform regulations, Plot-Share UK is legally required to report certain user earnings to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

When you approach or exceed £1,000 in earnings:

  • We'll send you an email and dashboard notification
  • You'll be prompted to provide your Tax Identification Number (National Insurance Number for UK residents)
  • This helps you stay compliant with HMRC requirements
